Staff

The primary staff of Angel & Associates, Inc. is composed of Dick and David Angel. While we have a broad array of experience and skills, we also depend on our relationship with a number of other talented, creative people who work with us as freelancers to provide whatever our clients need to reach their audience.

Dick Angel

dickangelHi,

I’m Dick and I am president and owner of Angel & Associates, Inc. I have been involved in the production of advertising and marketing communications materials since the early 1980’s. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Engineering and have always had a love for the technical. After graduation and a stint as Youth Director at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, I spent five years in engineering in Oak Ridge.

Besides the technical, I have always had an interest in art, photography, music and using all of this to communicate. While I am not formally trained in advertising and marketing communication, I have spent most of my career using all of my interests to help folks communicate their message. Starting with multi-projector slide presentations, my audio-visual experience grew to include video production for schools and non-profits, video editing of national automotive commercials and editing programs for HGTV, including the Restore America series.

With my interest in technology, I am always eager to check out the latest communication tools. I was an early user of desk-top publishing, learned digital video editing on one of the first Avid editing systems in East Tennessee and have been building websites since the nineties. I have also enjoyed the transition to digital photography, including virtual imaging and photo manipulation using Photoshop. It is great to have David on board now to continue to stay up on the latest developments.

David Angel
David Angel Hey,

My name is David. I’m a recent graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. It was there that I studied Electronic Media in the school’s Mass Communications program. My interests and skills have developed since long before college, or even high school, for that matter.

From an early age I remember being fascinated by cartoons, movies, and stories in general. I still remember when my dad was explaining to me how movies and television worked. We drew a stick figure flip book to see how still images can create the illusion of motion. I was hooked on visual media from that day. It wasn’t until I was in the 8th grade that I had my own website, and was trying to learn what I could about HTML and how the web worked. I’ll admit, there was a lot of copy-and-pasting going on in those days (heck, there’s still quite a bit of that going on), but I learn best by doing.

In college, video production was the main gig. Some of my electives were spent on things such as database management, interactive design, or Photoshop courses. I balanced out a lot of this nerdery with several physical activities as well.

Some things I’m passionate about (in no particular order):

  • PHP, MySQL, and the speed at which things can be accomplished
  • Family
  • Apple Computers
  • Sweating
  • Music
  • People
  • WordPress
  • The Gospel
  • Travel
  • Human Communication
  • Playing
  • Reusable Code
  • Social Networking
